| Description | Multicomponent nature of radiatively driven winds has dramatic effects on winds of cool B type stars. Radiatively driven winds are accelerated by radiation absorbed in spectral lines of metallic ions. Friction between accelerated ions and a passive component (hydrogen or helium) serves as a driving force for the passive component. Friction causes large heating of a wind up to temperatures of the order of million degrees. Consequently, a hot coronal region is formed. Theoretical and observational consequences are discussed. |
