| Description | Survival rate of mechanically ventilated patients with ARF due to COPD was followed up in 37 patients , of whom 26 were ventilated invasively whereas in 17 non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV)was used. NIMV proved to had lower mortality, less lethal complications and shorter time for mechanical ventilation was required. Also, NIMV circumvents the difficulties caused by weaning. |
