| Description | Factors controlling arsenic mobilization in the aquifers of the Río Dulce alluvial cone were investigated. Volcanic ash was suggested as a primary source of arsenic. Elevated pH values and competition with other oxyanions for adsorption sites promote release of arsenic. Organic matter from excessive irrigation may promote release of arsenic locally. |
