Description The paper shows how two latest german films (Das Wunder von Bern, So weit die Füße tragen) play the nazi past down. They tie up to phenomenons examined by the "oral history", i.e. the "memories" of family members that have been passed on for a long time and "redeem" the nazi soldiers because they are "our" family members (in spite of the commonly accepted view of the nazi period). This bias is getting rather dangerous as it is increasingly used by emerging nazi movements to justify their view of the nazi past and their own existence.
