| Description | When Niccolo Machiavelli wrote his essay Il Principe, hi did not care about what we called free rider problem and public goods. His opinion was that national defence, legality and security are not for citizens at first. The principal aim of such services was in his approach to keep the domination. If we translate his thoughts in contemporary economical terms, we can talk about positive externalities of dominating. Such concept changes a discussion about so-called public goods as well as free rider problem. Debating between Machiavelli and Samuelson in this paper could be inspiration for theory of public economics. |
