| Description | The author attempts to show that the so-called 'Global Civil Society talk' or discourse presupposes clarification of the very concept of 'civil society', or at least several its features that tend to be overlooked in day-to-day discussions in public media. The text also addresses the fact that the 'GCS talk' suffers from certain amorphousness which hinders our understanding of what the global civil society is and which functions it fulfills or is capable of fulfilling. The author concludes by noticing that this specific theoretical area cannot be detached from broader issues pertaining to the arrangmenent of human societies (or perhaps the human society) at the beginning of the 21st century. |
