Description This paper focuses on a creation of the first important work of multimedia art, Poeme électronique, at the Brussels World Exhibition 1958. After the exhibion had finished, the pavilion was destroyed and the only evidence which remained are recordings, photographies and films. Nowadays, a several research teams are attempting to rebuild (reproduce) the complex work of art by the means of virtual reality. Part of the project is also reconstruction of the original visitor s sound, space and visual experiences. It might be useful to discuss this approach with the well known Walter Benjamin s essay.
