Description This article uses the example of two post-Soviet organized crime groups to treat questions to do with the problem of a typology for crime groups. The model is verified using the post-Soviet Solntsevskaya and Chechenskaya mafia. This is accomplished by using case study analysis and basic descriptive/analytical methodology with an implicit comparative approach. The basic typologies used come from the Anglo-American academic environment, and the main goal of the study is to explore their application to the post-Soviet region.
