Description The text is focused on the analysis of oldest Czech place names in the 11th – 13th ct., derived from personal names created using suffixes containing the consonant –t (-ota, -ot, -ata/-ěta, -uta, -ut, -sta, -šta, -osta...). Using a monograph by J. Pleskalová, the individual suffixes are described with regard to their origin and with regard to how frequently they are used at creating oldest Czech place names. Place names ending in -ov, -ín, -*j6 were originally possessive adjectives and so-called stem principle was used for their derivation. However, this principle had been corrupted since the Proto-Slavonic period, which was manifested in the case of creating place names. When searching for the bases they are derived form it is therefore necessary to take into consideration not only this fact, but also the existence of so-called morphological variants of suffixes (Boř-uta, Boř-ut).
