| Description | This paper deals with the following problems related to the classification and the inventory of appreciative Greco-Latin prefixes in modern Spanish: the difficult distinction between Greco-Latin prefixes and prefixoids; the infrequent use of the concept of appreciative prefixation as superordinate category to the concept fields used habitually in semantic classification of prefixes; the open inventory of numerical prefixes; the incomplete information about semantic values of some prefixes; the omission of the element mega- in various studies on Spanish word formation. |
