Description	The paper deals with different aspects of using maps and geographic information systems (GIS) and testing of user characteristics of these products. The topic is presented in an interdisciplinary way with description of related key theoretical concepts from the areas of cartography and psychology. The paper also describes development of testing software called MuTeP which will help analyse performance of users of both static and interactive map products on different level of cognitive processing.
