| Description | The author analyses the question whether Brno as a city had it own folk culture. She traces celected subcultures between the tradition and modernity, analyses rural and urban cultural marks and the infiltration of the local traditions among newcomers, workers nad burghers. Local subcultures and cultural stereotypes connected to them were sources for strong local identities. In Brno, the folk culture, its modifications and folklore formed a part of the cultural identity of the city. |
