Description The article deals with the forms of representation of the human body in Greek surrealistic poetry as influenced by the historical and cultural context of the period. It analyzes the model of integrity and perfection as an expression of faith in the future world and of the establishment of harmony that can be found in the works of A. Embirikos, a representative of the interwar poetry. This is contrasted with the phenomenon of fragmentariness and deformation of human body as a literary demonstration of fear of the outside world, the passing character of ones own body and the loss of faith in the future as they are expressed in the early works of M. Sachturis, an author of the first postwar generation.
