Description Developments in the area of professional adult education after 1989 can be divided into two phases, while each of these phases have a character of transformation: external and internal conditions changed, which affected the nature of the whole system as well as the discourse of professional adult education. The first transformation was primarily economic in its nature and its side-effect was a certain chaos in the concept of the role of professional adult education and human resources in the economy and society. The second transformation probably has an andragogic character and its obvious feature is the change in discourse. The second transformation, which we are witnessing nowadays, is much subtler than the - without exaggeration, brutal first transformation. Indicators of second transformation are 1. (mostly) changing professional discourse, not only andragogic, but also managerial, economic, etc.; 2. (scarce) empirical evidence on the changing learning culture in organisations.
