Description Research in the thesis affected the profession of the gallery educator, which is becoming more common in the Czech Republic. The author of the article acknowledges this positive development, but also warns of the possible pitfalls that go hand in hand with every precipitate and uncritically accepted growth. Great importance is attributed to the gradual professionalization of the discipline and the ability of the educator to choose a suitable form of mediation in relation to the work of art and the visitor. A detailed description is given of the methods of work of Miquette Roberts from Great Britain and selected projects by Czech artists who make assistance on the part of the gallery educator redundant. The research objective was to outline the profession of the gallery educator especially from a practical point of view in the workplace, where the educator interacts with many other experts who can help optimize the educational process to the public.
