Description Starting point of the following considerations are the LBK-settlement in the so-called Horn basin, a micro-region in the NW of Lower Austria, just 30 km south of the border to Moravia. The small region is characterized by a relatively good state of research. Since about 150 years very efficient local researches are active in this area, by which 22 LBK-sites become known in an area of about 100 km2. Based on the surveys and excavations in recent years is becomming clear that the sites have different size and were inhabited of different length, and must have fulfilled different functions.
