Description A presentation will summarise crucial findings of my research of acculturation of Hinduism in the Czech occultism. I will focus on the period of the first half of the 20th century because my work concerning the era of communism and of the transition to democracy is at the moment being published in English. The presentation will highlight particular modernisation processes which made the use of „Hindu“ inspiration in the Czech popular culture possible. It will also show special traits of this acculturation process with reference to the above mentioned social conditions in which it was taking place.
