Citation
Description In the times of oppression and lack of political freedom – in the years 1939-1945 of the protectorate – a deeper interest grew among scholars in the work and personality of Julius Zeyer. That interest was further deepened by the 100th anniversary of Zeyer's birth and the 40th anniversary of his death (1941). Zeyer's anniversary literature can be divided into several divisions: editions (J. Š. Kvapil), literary-historical works and biographies (J. Š. Kvapil, V. Renč, E. Jurčinová, J. Šach), correspondence (Hellmuth-Brauner, B. Heritesová), bibliography (B. Lifka); the author presents an overview of the particular editorial deeds and points out their reflection in the press. Editors, authors and reviewers agreed that Zeyer's legacy had a lasting value and returns to it could be beneficial and topical in their era.
