| Description | The article deals with the specific functions of syntactic structures in fictional dialogues revealing the defamiliarization strategies employed by J.M. Coetzee in his novel Slow Man. Sequencing, parodic-ironic re-accentuation, contrastive equivalence, parallelism and foregrounding are interpreted as the major defamiliarization devices exploited in implicit and explicit dialogues of the analysed fictional discourse. |
