| Description | The paper deals with the notion of phatic communion in fictional discourse. The major problem which is subject to verification is the idea of context-dependence of phatic devices, as contrasted with Malinowski's original claim by that phatic communion is not dependent on the context of situacion. Fictional discourse, however, brings sufficient evidence of context-embeddedness of the phenomenon under investigation. |
