Masaryk University offers 3825 beds in 11 student accommodation facilities in different parts of Brno for different prices.

At all halls of residence, there is Internet connection, a laundry room, a TV room, and a study room. All rooms are equipped with a fridge.

Student Canteens

Masaryk University offers catering in 6 canteens, cafeterias and other catering facilities that are located in different parts of the city.

If you have an active ISIC, you can benefit from discounted student prices. You will pay with your ISIC, but first, you need to top up your Kredit boarding system. It is interconnected with the SUPO system (The Public System of Remittances and Claims of Persons). Boarders with a deposit account can use cashless transfers of finances (recharging) between SUPO and Kredit (manual as well as automatic) in the application WebKredit. In WebKredit you can also see the daily menu and prices.

Other forms of accommodation

If you don´t want to stay at student dorms, you can always consider other forms of accommodation such as renting a single room or sharing a flat with your friends. There are many ways how to find the best deal - we suggest you take a look at some of these Facebook groups here, here (in Czech), or here (also in Czech). Or you can check out this web page where you can specify what you´re looking for and narrow down your search results.

In general, we recommend that first‑year students stay in the university dormitories for at least their first semester. This usually helps students adapt more easily to life in Brno and provides time to search for private accommodation in person. If this is not possible for you, you can always consider other forms of accommodation such as renting a single room or sharing a flat with your friends.

There are many ways how to find the best deal (price, safety, quality of the living space). You have several alternative options to consider:

Arranging virtual apartment viewings through reputable property rental websites (rather than via social media platforms such as Facebook).
Searching for an apartment through a reliable rental portal, scheduling in‑person viewings, and arriving in Brno before the start of the semester to attend these viewings and complete the move, while temporarily staying in an Airbnb or a hotel.
Booking co‑living accommodation for the first few months of the semester and continuing your search for long‑term housing during that time (for example: https://www.domeq.cz/en/).

Please be cautious when reviewing rental offers. Do not transfer any deposits before viewing the apartment (whether online or in person), as there have unfortunately been cases of international students losing money to fraudulent listings. If you opt for a virtual viewing, we strongly recommend that both you and the person conducting the tour present a passport/ID at the beginning of the call to verify your identities.

If you have the possibility to arrive earlier and search for an apartment before the start of the semester, we strongly recommend doing so. However, if this is not feasible in your case, booking a co‑living accommodation for the first few months or for the initial semester would be a sensible alternative.

This is not to say that virtual apartment tours are necessarily unreliable – in many cases, they are perfectly legitimate. Nevertheless, certain potential issues, such as mould or other maintenance concerns, are difficult to assess remotely. For this reason, we would recommend considering virtual viewings as a last‑resort option rather than the primary approach.
