Finding a job

Students from the EU/EEA and Switzerland
Students from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland have the same employment rights as Czech students. They can work under any form of cooperation. The most common arrangements are agreements outside a standard employment contract, regulated by Czech law. Find more detailed information on employment regulations here.

Non-EU/EEA Students
Students from third countries who hold a visa or residence permit for study purposes do not need a work permit and enjoy the same employment rights as Czech students.

Non-EU students enrolled in distance learning programs may also work in the Czech Republic, provided they are under 26 years old and their employment does not exceed 7 consecutive calendar days or 30 days in total per year.

In other cases, or after completing their studies, non-EU/EEA and non-Swiss citizens must apply for a work permit or an employment card. Find more information here.
