Grant project is focused on musical and dance activities based on folklore, both in amateur movement and in professional sphere. However, except from the study of so called second (and third) existence of folklore the emphasis is placed on the broader social context in which these phenomena exist and blossom. Research of present local traditions and outside incentives influencing them is necessary for further study of the function of present activities that draw from folklore and continue its tradition. Folklore movement activities (folklore festivals and feasts) and great impact of mass media (e.g. today´s trend of so called world music in pop music) cause a transmission of "folklore" into the sphere of spontaneous actions, which reflects in local culture. However, to be able to explain these processes it is necessary to pay more attention to the social and historical context of the researched phenomena including psychological context (motivation, self-fulfillment, identification).
