Citation
Description The chapter presents current issues and understanding of inclusive education and contrasts declared inclusive policies and reality of segregated education. The research focuses on attitudes of the Czech general public attitudes towards inclusive education, as negative attitudes may serve as a barrier of education for all children in mainstream school. The respondents (N= 1803) expressed their position to twelve statements, which were inspired by the social distance scale. The results show that attitudes of the general public vary according to socio-demographic characteristics of the respondents and their contact and knowledge about people with disabilities.
