| Description | The objective of the presented diploma thesis is to offer a brief overview of multimedia tendencies in contemporary German drama. At first the thesis explains the essential terminology that is very diverse as far as media studies are concerned. Then it defines the very nature of media in theatre, introduces the concept of intermediality and outlines historical development of the use of film, video, internet and new media in theatre. The thesis focuses on poetics of four authors – Barrie Kosky, Frank Castorf and Falk Richter. The concluding chapter analyses their work and also considers pro and cons of performances employing multimedia in comparison to traditional forms of theatre. |
