| Description | The history of German language and culture in Brno does not offer only images and scenarios of national confrontation of Czech and German speaking inhabitants of the city, which is unluckily still often presumed. Especially in the first two decades of the 20th century, there were several groups of writers and intellectuals as well as several periods whose aims and public impact can be referred to as progressive. The paper focuses on the discourse accompanying the movement of Moravian modernism in the early 1900's and on magazine projects of the early postwar period - the expressionist monthly Der Mensch and the magazine of the Cosmopolitan Society Die Wahrheit. |
