Description This paper deals with the Czech exile in Austria and Switzerland after August 21, 1968. It is based on data gathered during my field research conducted among Czechs living in above mentioned countries. The research was being done for 4 years, from 2011 to 2014 and a method of oral history was used to record 34 semi-structured interviews with members of the Czech immigration wave, who had been living beyond borders of their homeland, Czechoslovakia, for more than 40 years. The analysis of the interviews aimed to find out a way the narrators re-constructed their national identity during the dialog with a researcher. The findings are presented in this paper.
