Description Migration in the 20th century and its influence on the settlement of cities in western Germany The following article outlines the issue of the arrival of migrants and their influence on the settlement and form of cities and the change of the German economy after the Second World War. Above all, it concerns demographic change, urban development and economic impulse. The article is trying to point it out, how the character of the West German cities has changed as a result of the arrival of a large number of displaced Germans and how their arrival has been perceived by the German public.
