Description This article focuses on the topical subject of intergenerational learning as a platform for the development of pre-reading skills in the environment of a nursery school. The theme reflects on the research project of a case study carried out in the field of information studies and librarianship. In the context of intergenerational learning and reader literacy it centres on the motivation factors in the involvement of seniors in intellectual activities, on the criteria for the choice of suitable texts for intergenerational interaction or perceptual and cognitive aspects of selected texts by pre-school children. Theoretical and research aspects of this study can serve as a relevant starting point for the application of programmes in intergenerational reading focusing on pre-reading activities in the non-formal educational environment of a library.
