Description What was going to happen to children living in the ancient Roman era who were deprived of their natural protectors – their father, their family - whether due to abandonment or death? Where could they find the support they needed? In this paper, I would like to follow the recent new trend in childhood studies based on the interdisciplinary approach that focuses on the child as an active agent in his/her life, not a mere passive object in the world of the adults and their interests. My aim is thus to focus mainly on the possibilities of orphaned and exposed children within the society and children dynamic behavior in the situation of need.
