Description The paper deals with the productions of Shakespearean operas composed by G. Verdi, staged in the Czech Republic after 1989. The analysis is mostly focussed on the Prague State Opera production of Otello (1991) and its renewed version (2009). The production of Verdi's Macbeth (2015) is also discussed in the context of staging style of operatic Macbeth and Otello productions in the Czech Republic and former Czechoslovakia. The topic is approached from the cognitive theatre studies perspective.
