Description The territory of southern Wallachia is one of the regions where St. Nicholas door-to-door processions have survived in many villages as a viable phenomenon to which the flying of Devils closely relate. This phenomenon is a specific element that is, likewise the St. Nicholas door-to-door processions, among the most important, hitherto living and frequently practised traditions which strengthen the identity in local residents and which tie the population to their ancestors. The presence and structure of the flying of Devils support the theories that the residues of pre-Christian belief ideas could not be covered in the researched region even though the form of the masks is based on St. Nicholas door-to-door processions. We encounter a custom which includes several archaic elements. The aim of the study is to present the topic using an analysis of particular factors, which influence the form of them.
