Description The paper focuses on reduplication in the etymological figure based on composition and negation. We made a corpus probe to investigate an etymological figure hlava nehlava. We obtained 546 pairs of word forms using three CQL queries. Most often, the chosen etymological figure is used in the singular nominative. Occurrences in other cases (except vocative) were also found. However, the use of nominative or other case affects the meaning of the phrase. This word-forming process also applies to the creation of titles of cultural events or works of art. It occurs not only in appellatives but also in proper names. Often several etymological figures accumulate in a row. Frequency analysis of corpus documents showed that it is a productive type of idiomatic formation with no significant restriction to a particular genre.
