Citation
Description The book combines oenological and historiographical discourse on the example of the development of viticulture in Moravia from the Thirty Years' War to nationalisation in the mid-20th century. The author defines the term terroir, focuses on its socio-economic dimension and describes the Czechoslovak and Czech debate on this term. The synthetic historical interpretation is based on the idea that the possession of a vineyard implied a wider area of freedoms (for subjects) and explains the process of specifying the origin of Moravian wines. Finally, the book provides an analysis of data from the Stable Cadastre and reconstructs the hierarchy of Moravian vineyards and wines. These data have a high informative value, as they are based on long-term figures.
