Description The use of 14C data to model the size of past populations is currently a hot topic. It is based on the assumption that the number of 14C data in a given period reflects the intensity of human activities. The aim of this paper is to map the development of population size in the period from 8000-4500 cal BC in the environment of Central Europe with an emphasis on Neolithisation. In addition to the chronological point of view, we will also monitor spatial trends with the intention of identifying the factors that led to fluctuations in the size of prehistoric populations.
