Description In recent years, prospecting with a metal detector at the cadastral territory of Velešice, Jičín district, was discovered a settlement with evidence of habitation from the early to late Roman period. The collection of pottery and metallic finds allows to date the settlement to a younger phase of the early Roman period to the very end of this period. Some fibulae suggest the possibility of the existence of settlement even at the early Great Migration Period. Among the finds are several fibulae that have not been registered in the Czech Republic so far. The settlement fits into the zone of settlements, which is connected to the flow of the river Cidlina and is an important evidence of the habitation of Jičín region in Roman period.
