| Description | The author aims to identify differences between Central Europe and the Balkans as ethnocultural areas in the context of historical and social develop ment. The study uses the ethnological approach but also the findings of social history. The text compares social and cultural stratification of society, folk culture definition and specification of folk tradition bearers. It deals with social and settlement mo bility and immobility, impacts of regimentation and guarantee of living and cultural Helena Bočková. Balkán a střední Evropa jako etnokulturní areály. The limited folk culture definition in Central Europe and the equalisation of the folk culture contrast with a broad definition of the folk culture in the Balkans, where a broad variety of forms exists (especially house, courtyard, dress, cloth, diet). The author considers historical social mobility in the Balkans important. The mobility provided the population with freer access to cultural values without privilege limits as in Central Europe. The moment of folk culture decline was different depending on the different stages of modernisation. In the Balkans, the decline came later and the fact signified bigger contrast between old and new. |
