| Description | The essay addresses the issue of transdisciplinarity in cultural science research. This approach, the essence of which is to combine the results of several discipline-based analyses of one particular phenomenon, is examined on the example of what meanings could be carried by the gaze of a Madonna (image, statue) found in the Central European space in the 17th and 18th centuries. Possible answers are offered through art-historical, cultural-historical, linguistic and spatial analysis. The model of transdisciplinarity is shown to be functional in these studies, even though it cannot guarantee new knowledge. |
