Description This presentation arises from the subject Errors in Spanish as a Foreign Language, taught in the Master of Teaching Spanish at Masaryk University of Brno, Czech Republic. The main objective of the paper is to reflect on the value of the lexical errors that appear in the written interlanguage of Spanish learners, as well as their pedagogical potential when training future non-native teachers of Spanish. First, the paper presents a brief review of the trends that have investigated errors in foreign language learning. Secondly, it shows a typological classification of the different lexical errors detected in an opportunistic corpus of written language. Thirdly, it introduces the beliefs of the Master students about lexical learning, within the framework of their undergraduate studies, in order to find a possible connection with the detected errors. Finally, the paper discusses the usefulness of the analysis of these errors for Spanish lessons and vocabulary teaching.
