Description Until the Second Vatican Council, the main catholic liturgy was the Roman mass (also known also as Tridentine or Latin mass, usus antiquior), which in certain parts is identical to the mass that was already celebrated during the second century AD. The Second Vatican Council, held in the years 1962-1965 after long disputes between modernist and traditionalist groups in the church, aimed to open the church to the modern world and in doing so to modernize and "update" even the Holy Mass (aggiornamento). After that a new form of the mass, the Novus ordo liturgy, was created which, although it was not intended to replace the traditional liturgy, became more and more prevalent and is today the dominant form of liturgy. In addition to changes in the very composition of the liturgy, practical actions and even the language, liturgical art also changed, which already at that time drew its style and form from modern secular art, began to simplify even more and reduced its presence in temples. It is art in the church and in the liturgy that will interest me in my research, I will map its modern development, its origin in the field of modern secular art, as well as its philosophical and political motivation or background.
