Description The text deals with the question of space in relation to rituals and other events that took place in Baroque churches. The core of the text consists of various examples of the ritualised use of temple space, in particular three Czech-Moravian coronations of Madonnas from the 1730s: Svatá Hora near Příbram, Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc, and Brno. The focus is on both liturgical and social aspects: for example, the significance of the coronation ritual and its relationship to the usual liturgical events and to the meaning of the individual parts of the church (altars, chapels); or the use of the church in relation to the social structure of the community (the possibilities of access for different groups of inhabitants).
