Description The presentation examined the reality of emigration from communist Czechoslovakia in the wave after August 1968 and the following return of the émigrés after the fall of communism in 1989 through 9 oral history interviews, focusing on the meaning of “home” both abroad, and after the return. It attempted to examine the return of Slovak migrants back into their homeland, which they left in times of communism and returned to in times of democracy and capitalism. Why did they decide to return? How did they feel about the changes in post-communist Czechoslovakia (and later Slovak republic)? Was there a feeling of acceptance, or did they feel like strangers in their own country? And to what extent is it possible to answer such questions if we ask only the narrators who did not decide to emigrate again?
