| Description | Lecture at a professional conference organized by the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Beer is a beverage that has co-shaped the culture of Central Europe since the Middle Ages. Because of its great popularity in recent centuries, people have often overlooked sources and created myths about its production, taste, consistency and consumption. Thanks to this long-standing activity, there are many half-truths and nonsense surrounding beer in the Middle Ages, which the sources are silent about or outright refute. The aim of this lecture is to reflect on these myths and to set them straight with the help of contemporary sources. |
