| Description | Around 1900, the Austrian-Moravian writer and journalist Jakob Julius David addressed the relationship between education and the media in his works. Despite his commitment, he remained forgotten for a long time and was only later recognised as partof German-Moravian or Austrian literature and as a bordercrosser of Viennese modernism. His media-critical work Die Zeitung (1906) is characterised by an unsystematic examinationof the thematic fields of education and newspapers. This paper attempts to shed some light on David’s ideas on media education and to examine the significance of education in his thinkingas well as the connection to his literary and essayistic texts. |
