| Description | This publication is the result of a project that uses modern data presentation tools. Aiming at people interested in the history of cinema or the cultural history of Zlín, as well as contemporary history teachers especially in secondary schools, the book builds on a web application providing a vast amount of data to its users. The first section of the book presents the basic theoretical and methodological background of the project, including an introduction to the field of digital humanities. Next section offers seven research papers based on a massive collection of archival materials from all relevant archives, as well as digital humanities tools – i.e., based on sources and tools available to the users of the web application. Examples of worksheets provided for secondary school teachers for teaching contemporary history are provided in the last section. This book presents the stand-alone research results in the form of historical studies. In addition, it is linked to the digital outputs of the project, i.e., the database and web application, and serves as a support for their effective use. The introductions to each section explain how the texts are interlinked with the web application so that the texts function in dialogue with the application and the database. The publication includes documentation for the database to inspire potential followers to its reproduction. |
