Description The lecture introduced the audience to the issue of building volunteer units at the beginning of interwar Czechoslovakia and their regional specifics. It also focused on the unorthodox ceremonial uniforms of the Slovácká Brigade, the design of which was co-designed by the regional painter of Slovácko Joža Uprka, the attempt to overcome the provincial border in the formation of the Slovácká Brigade's enlistment district, the effort to bring barracks closer to folk architecture and many other aspects of Slovak patriotism applied in the emerging Czechoslovak army. The lecture was complemented by examples of original artefacts and the presentation of a replica of the ceremonial uniform of the Slovácká Brigade, which was reconstructed according to a period photograph.
