| Description | One of the fundamental questions of aesthetics concerns the value of art. The value of art is either necessary, or accidental. Are we ready to admit that the highest artistic performances are due to mere coincidence? Explications of the intrinsic value are presented and put to the test. The role of representational properties is introduced as important. If the concept of intrinsic value is basic in a way, then the artistic canon as set, at last partly consists of works which possess intrinsic value. |
