| Description | This essay is an analysis of the ceremonial functions of beer in the Three Weddings, which are Udmurt rites of passage. Udmurt religion and ceremonial culture is a well-preserved and flourishing facet of folk religiosity. The consumption of specific alcoholic beverages, such as beer, is an integral component of their ceremonial culture. Beer served a dual purpose in this context: it acted as a stimulant for participants and created a spiritual connection with the worlds of ancestors and deities. |
