| Description | The history of the so-called villas dates back to antiquity. The Renaissance returned to the villa building form, but the overall concept was somewhat different. One of the most famous designers of villas during the 16th century was Andrea Palladio. His architectural principles were used again and again throughout the 19th century and can also be found in Brno (e.g. Villa Heinrich von Felsenbrunn). In the Moravian capital, the oldest villas were built as early as 1860 in Černá Pole and the first building was the Kaiser's Villa. However, the lecture also mentioned Art Nouveau villas and selected buildings from the inter-war period. Emphasis was placed on less known or overlooked buildings. |
