Description In the context of rethinking the role of textbooks in teaching History and Civic education, the paper discusses to what extent enquiry-based learning (and the concept of the Canadian scholar Seixas) can be reconciled with older history textbooks. In other words, to what extent constructivism in pedagogy is at odds with a narrative conception of history.
